Nancy Caroline Walker and William Knowlton Gilmer were married June 12, 2021 at 5:00 in the afternoon at A. Hamilton Reid Chapel at Samford University. The reception was held atThe Grand Bohemian Hotel in Mountain Brook following the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Will and Nelda Walker of Haleyville. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hobert Lynn of Hamilton, Mrs. Rena Walker and the late Mr. Earl Frank Walker Jr of Haleyville.
The groom is the son of Jerry and Glenda Gilmer of Winfield. He is the grandson of Mrs. Mary Frances Hocutt and the late Mr. Hubert Hocutt of Fayette, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gilmer of Winfield.
For her wedding, the bride chose an Allure Couture beaded lace fit and flare ivory gown with a scalloped edge chapel length train, Giselle Bridals cathedral length veil and headpiece purchased from Diane’s Formal Affair in Jasper, Badgley Mischka shoes, and Marlena Dupelle pendant earrings. As her “something blue”, the bride wore an aquamarine ring that was also worn by her mother on her wedding day. She carried her late grandmother Lynn’s vintage blue Wedgwood cameo pin and linen handkerchief with her bouquet as her “something borrowed” and “something old”.
Matron of honor was Raeleigh Monk, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Allie Gilmer, sister of the groom, Emory Buckner and Kristin Gunderson, friends of the bride. Flower girls were Vera Whiteside and Blakely Whiteside, cousins of the bride.
Best man was the groom’s father, Jerry Gilmer. Groomsmen were Drew Hankins, Jonathan Mincey, and Dustin Kilgore, all friends of the groom. Ring bearer was Karsyn Brown, cousin of the groom. Ushers were Chase Gilmer and Slade Gilmer, cousins of the groom, Britton McCreless and Jackson McCreless, cousins of the bride.
Wedding director was Faith Woods Events. Floral designer was Pink Pear Florists. Ceremony music was provided by Cahaba River Strings Quartet, pianist Marissa Mayfield, and vocalist Thomas Fleischman. Reception entertainment was provided by Derek Sellers Music. The reception was catered by The Grand Bohemian Hotel, and the wedding cake and groom’s cake were made by Dreamcakes Bakery. Program attendant was Ally Williams, cousin of the bride. Coats Classic Cars provided a white Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow for the couple’s wedding day transportation; wedding stationery provided by Empress Stationery; Suzanne Cunningham Calligraphy; wedding signage provided by Ledgewood Fine Stationery; mirror calligraphy by Porter Rivers Art, wedding favor cookies provided by Meg’s Custom Cookies. Hair stylist and make up artist was MadStyle by Madeline Benton. Photographer was Be Light Photography and videographer was Nicholson Creative.
A lovely bridal luncheon was held the day before the wedding at Galley and Garden located in the historic Merritt House in Birmingham. After the rehearsal, the groom’s parents hosted a dinner at Gianmarco’s in Homewood.
The couple spent their honeymoon at Hyatt Baha Mar Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. They are now residing in Hoover.
