Ashley Rhea Bishop and Cody Joe Dobbs were united in marriage on September 28, 2019 at a late afternoon ceremony overlooking the Tennessee River at Robert Trent Jones of the Shoals with Pastor Matt Fowler officiating. Soloist Tanner King began the ceremony with “How Great Thou Art” accompanied by pianist, Dustin White. Instrumental selections for the ceremony included “How Deep the Father’s Love,” “In Christ Alone,” and “Be Thou My Vision.” The bridal processional was “Canon In D” and prayer song was “Spirit of the Living God”.
The bride is the daughter of Joyce Bishop of Muscle Shoals and Bruce Bishop of Rogersville. She is the granddaughter of Adrian and Sandra Yarbrough, Nellie Sue Bishop and the late Larry Bishop.
The groom is the son of Joe and Lisa Dobbs of Tuscumbia. He is the grandson of the late Turner and Doris Dobbs, Carolyn Sullivan, and the late Charles Sullivan.
The bride was escorted by her father and mother. She wore a graceful ivory lace mermaid silhouette gown and a simple tulle cathedral length veil from Promenade. Her shoulder-dusting earrings featured a mother-of-pearl centerpiece and intricate crystal accents. She also wore a gold and pearl bracelet borrowed from her paternal grandmother. Fastened to the bridal bouquet was an antique “Jesus Saves” pin worn by her maternal grandfather as a boy.
Matron of honor was Amanda McKinney. Bridesmaids were Alexandra Aderholt, Chloe Handley, Kaila Jarrell, Hayley Mitchell, Brittany Roberson, Katie Spence, and Rachel Weeks. Memorial candles were lit by Addison Pounders and flower girls were Marlee Sullivan and Addison Weeks. The guest book was attended by friend of the bride, Shelby McAlister. Hair and makeup for the bridal party was by Susan Puryear and Lindsey Robinson of Halo Hair Downtown. Flower girl dresses were from The Emporium. The bride and her attendants enjoyed a delicious brunch on the wedding day hosted by friends Karla Earnest, Melanee Frederick, and Marilyn Keelon at the home of Dacus & Barbara Wall on Wilson Lake near the wedding venue.
Best man was Tony Pounders. Groomsmen were Stephen Abel, John Burton, Sky Congleton, Nic Ellison, Austin Handley, Zachary Handley, and Shawn Sullivan. Ring bearer was Easton White and sign bearer was Cayson Sullivan. Suits were provided by Coats Clothing Company.
The reception was held at RTJ following the ceremony. Catering was provided by the venue and the cakes were made by Lana Copeland of All About Cakes. Floral designer was Carmalita Coan. Videographer was Nelson Studios and photographer was Rebekah Handley. Special thanks to Juliana Brewer at Printers and Stationers, RTJ event coordinator, Christine Minor, and to our wonderful wedding director, Terri Brown, who handled the details of the day effortlessly!
The wedding rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at the Tuscumbia Depot & Roundhouse.
After a relaxing week at Unico 20°87° Riviera Maya the couple is now at home on Wilson Lake in Muscle Shoals with their beloved dog Piper!
