Katelynn Elaine Gordon and Coleman Alan Thompson were married March 16, 2019 at 5:30 in the afternoon at First United Methodist Church in Russellville. Officiating the ceremony was the bride’s father, Rev. Elliott Gordon, along with Rev. Kerry Franks. The reception followed in the church’s Ministry Center.
The bride is the daughter of Rev. Elliott and Ponda Gordon of Russellville. She is the granddaughter
of Betty Stults of Russellville, Sammy and Barbara Stults of Russellville, Sandra and the late Charles Gowing of Carrollton, Ga., and the late Charles Gordon of Georgetown, Texas.
The groom is the son of Steve and Judy Jones of Waynesboro, Tenn. and Paris and Renee Thompson of Hohenwald, Tenn. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shipp, Mr. and Mrs. Don
Meredith, and the late Rev. and Mrs. Paul Thompson, all of Hohenwald, Tenn.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a champagne ivory Timeless Oleg Cassini
cap sleeve ball gown with intricate lace details and beading with a coordinating chapel length veil. She carried a bouquet of white roses, hydrangea and greenery with the stems covered with a handkerchief that belonged to her great-great-grandmother and held together with her sorority
pen. The bride’s “something old” was a piece of her mother’s wedding dress sewn into her dress with her mother’s wedding date on it. Her “something borrowed” was her mother’s pearl earrings that her mother wore on her wedding day, and her mother’s diamond tennis bracelet. For her “something blue”, the bride’s mother sewed the wedding date inside the dress in blue.
Maid of honor was Leslie Taylor and matron of honor was Jackson Schuster. Bridesmaids were Anna Conner, Jennifer Holland, Noelle Howdyshell, Savannah Johnson, Abby McWilliams, and Laurel Wade. Bride’s attendant was Addison Oden. Flower girls were Zoe Hartsell and Hadley Oden. Guest book attendants were Erin Masterson and Lauren Alford.
Best man was Taner Swinea. Groomsmen were Andrew Butler, Justin Burns, Charlie Gordon, Spencer Hammond, Johnathon Schuster, Eric Staggs, and Corey Vandiver. Ring bearer was Harrison
Singleton and bible bearer was Jacob Hartsell.
Wedding director was Gayle McAlister. Floral designer was Carmalita Coan of Carmalita’s Weddings and Floral Events. Ceremony music was provided by pianist Jason Hartsell and vocalist Sherene Wade. Caterer was Jill’s Sweet Memories, who also made the wedding and groom’s cakes. Hair stylists were Dana Aycock and Samantha Bragwell of Kameo Salon. Makeup artist was Jessica McSpadden. Photographer was Hannah Olinger of Terry Photography and videographer was Bryon Hellums. The Ministry Center was decorated by Shindigs & Such. The fireworks show was put on by Stults Brothers Fireworks.
The bride’s brother sang a surprise song for the bride and groom, “Dancing with Cinderella”.
A rehearsal dinner was held at Twin Pines Country Club.
A bridal tea was held at the home of Mrs. Sherene Wade, hosted by friends. A bridesmaid luncheon was held at the home of Mrs. Lela Ray, hosted by friends. A kitchen shower was held at First United Methodist Church, hosted by friends. Two showers were held in Tennessee in honor of the bride and groom.
A special thank you to Chase Sparks for the use of his antique Volkswagen Beetle that the couple left the church in.
After a honeymoon at Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera in Cancun, Mexico, the couple is now residing in Trinity.
