Sarah Chappell Stewart and Taylor Patrick Fendley were married on May 20, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. at Independent Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Alabama with The Reverend William J. Carl III and Mr. David J. Seamon, officiating. The reception followed at the business of the bride’s father: The Stewart Perry Company, Birmingham.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas B. Roth of Decatur, and Merrill Harpe Stewart, Jr. of Birmingham. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Merrill H. Stewart, Birmingham, and the later Mr. Stewart; the late Dorothy Killcrease Burtenshaw, Cherokee Ridge, Alabama and the late Lt. Col. ( Ret.) Erling Thovald Smeds of Albertville, Alabama.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Samuel Fendley of Montgomery, Alabama. He is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Charles Lamar Phillips, Auburn, Alabama; and the late Mr. and Mrs. George Washington Fendley, Jr., Camden, Alabama.

Maid of the honor was Julia Elizabeth Stewart, sister of the bride, Decatur, Alabama. Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Hill McGowan, Birmingham, cousin of the bride; Seely McMillan Stephenson, Nashville, friend of the bride; Margaret Coleman Haley, Nashville, friend of the bride; Francoise Amelie de Saint Phalle, New York, N.Y, friend of the bride; and Sydni Buck Willis, Birmingham, friend of the bride. Flower girls were Piper Nickels, Decatur, goddaughter of the bride; and Caroline Hill, niece of the bride.

Best man was John Samuel Fendley, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Justin Drew Fendley, Houston, Texas, brother of the groom; Jackson Samuel Fendley, Atlanta, brother of the groom; Dr. Merrill Harpe Stewart, III, New Orleans, Thomas Richard DeBray, Birmingham, friend of the groom; John Bernard Brannon, III, Birmingham, friend of the groom; and Eric Wilson Hunter. Ring bearer was Thomas DeBray III, Birmingham.

Wedding Director was M. Elizabeth Events, Birmingham. Caterer was Kathy G’s Catering. Photographer was Alisha Crossley Photography, Birmingham. Music provided by Entice Band.

After a honeymoon to Sugar Beach Resort in St. Lucia, the couple made their home in Birmingham, Alabama.
